People all around the Fargo-Moorhead area began changing the white light bulbs outside their homes and apartments to blue light bulbs. All to honor the memory of Fargo Police Office Jason Moszer who was killed in the line of duty on February 11, 2016.
What inspired me was that even weeks following the funeral, neighborhoods continued to switch on their blue porch lights night-after-night. As an artist, I was intrigued by how each light cast a different glow on the doors and porches because of the home’s unique architecture. I wanted to capture this spirit of the community. So for several nights, I took my camera and tripod and photographed the various blue-lighted homes at night and created my collage called “Porch Lights for Protectors.” While the lights may cast different shades of blue, the support from the community continues to shine into the night. #lights #fargo #police #moszer #seiler #art

(This was such a great experience. I really enjoyed the questions from the team at Myriad Mobile. Scott Seiler) Photographer Scott Seiler’s work is deeply rooted in North Dakota. His landscapes are culturally rich and connected to the land. They can be described as horizontal perspectives. Seiler recently lead the employees in an engagement activity and artist talk. “The employees asked me questions that I wouldn’t have even though of- like how did I get into the situation to capture these images. It made me think about the work in new ways,” he says. Employees were invited to create a haiku connected to Seiler’s work. “When the group was working on the poems, they would get up at and walk up to the images, concentrating on the work. They were curious and engaged,” says Seiler. Scott Seiler’s artwork is on display at Myriad Mobile 503 7th St N Fargo, ND 58102 701-369-0633. I'm honored and excited that my photographic print, "Lake Sticks" will be among the art pieces on auction at the Plains Art Museum Spring Gala. You can get your tickets to the Best Party in Town, Saturday, May 7th! You can also be bid online that evening.View the entire catalog at https://501auctions.com/plainsartmuseum/category/all/1.
