This Wild Prairie Crocus or Pasque, is one of the first flowers to bloom in the spring. It is also the state flower of South Dakota. As a kid, I would often walk the pastures of our family farm before the snow completely melted and would see them in bloom. They often grow on the southern sideof hills and slopes.
